Drone films inside the world’s largest cave

Hang Son Doong in Vietnam.

Ryan Deboodt made this stunning film near the entrance of the world’s largest cave. Shot close to the first and second dolines (skylights) which are 2.5 and 3.5 km inside the cave respectively this aerial view shows how gigantic this cave is. Sơn Đoòng Cave was found by a local man named Hồ-Khanh in 1991, and only in 2009  did the cave become internationally known after a group of scientists conducted a survey.

Pix4D turns your DJI Phantom 2 in a 3D mapping Tool

The world’s most popular drone

DJI Phantom 2 Drone
So you have one of the world’s most popular drones, a DJI Phantom. Introduced in 2013 the Phantom is a red-and-white quadcopter that can carry a 4K high-definition camera, such as a GoPro Hero4. You made the most beautiful aerial movies and are looking for a new application. Why not making 3D models?

Make 3D models with Pix4Dmapper

Fly the DJI Phantom Autonomously with the Pix4Dmapper App

With the Pix4Dmapper App  you can turn a DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ into an autonomous mapping and measuring tool.  Create 2D maps and 3D models in which you can measure distances. Some specs of the app:

Select an area for mapping
Autonomous mission (by GPS)
Automatic image taking and geo-tagging

DJI sets new drone standard with the Inspire 1

Yes, you can watch this movie in 4K

The shapeshifting 4K video shooting quadcopter

My first encounter with DJI was 6 years ago when we ordered an autopilot to shoot aerial video and images with single rotor helicopter. More than satisfied I’ve been following this company with great interest and their ability to surprise me each time when they release a new product. Some days ago I heard about the DJI Inspire 1 and yes I was stunned with their next innovation. Is this going to be the next generation of drones? Some specs:

DJI Inspire 1

  • Shoots 4K video @ 30 fps
  • 12 MP aerial Photos
  • 3-axis Gimbal
  • 2,9 Kg
  • 4500 mAh battery (18 mins flytime)
  • Dual operator control (pilot and camera)
  • Fly indoors with Optical Flow Technology
  • Price: $2899

DJI Inspire One

Shapeshifter from the future?

And yes it also looks like a shapeshifting, futuristic, aerodynamic must have gadget. (Dear Santa?) What surprised me most is the transforming design in combination with it’s functionality. During a flight the quadcopter can change its configuration to give you a 360 degree aerial view without any obstructions. Can’t wait to see this amazing innovation.
